More Interests

Perhaps you thought the eleven other areas on the previous page was all I had an interest in... not so. If I lived on this earth for hundreds of years I would not have time to explore all the exciting possibilities God has placed before us on this planet. But I'm not disappointed and ...

"... we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18.

This material, physical world in which we live is temporary. It is passing away. The day is coming when...

"... everything will be destroyed ... That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness." 2 Peter 3:11-13.

What is truly permanent and lasting is the world that we presently cannot see. It is a world unseen but it is no less real than the planet we currently call home. But this unseen world is 'visible' through eyes of faith.

The writer of Hebrews tells us: "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible (11:1-3).

It all boils down to faith: real, actual trust in God and in His Son, Jesus Christ. I have no hope of eternal life if I depend on myself, the church, my friends, my pastor, my works - the good things I sometimes do - in fact, God says trusting in those things is an abomination to him. All of my faith, hope, and trust is in Jesus Christ alone. Ephesians 2:8,9 - For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. There you have it: God's Words, not mine!
