The War in Iraq

To get out of a difficulty, one usually has to go through it. The United States is now going through one of the most serious threats to its existence since World War II and it is deadly serious. It is entirely possible that America may not win this war! Read on...

First, a few basic facts:

The war on terror did not begin, as many presume, on September 11th, 2001. It began, at least as far as the U.S. is concerned, some 22 years earlier, in 1979:

  • The Iran Embassy Hostages, 1979;
  • Beirut, Lebanon Embassy attack 1983;
  • Beirut, Lebanon Marine Barracks attack 1983;
  • The Lockerbie, Scotland Pan-Am flight to New York attack 1988;
  • First New York World Trade Center attack 1993;
  • Dhahran, Saudi Arabia Khobar Towers Military complex attack 1996;
  • Nairobi, Kenya US Embassy attack 1998;
  • Dar es Salaam, Tanzania US Embassy attack 1998;
  • Aden, Yemen USS Cole attack 2000;
  • New York World Trade Center, et al, 2001 attack ("9-11").

These attacks - and some 7,581 other terrorist attacks worldwide - took place during the administrations of Presidents Carter, Reagan, Bush 1, Clinton, and Bush 2. You cannot fault any of the presidents - either Republican or Democrat - as there were no provocations by them or any of their predecessors.

In each case, the attackers were radical Muslims. Some contend that the Muslim religion is peaceful, and no doubt there are peace-loving Muslims, but that is not relevant to this paper. The predominantly Christian population of Germany was peaceful, but under the leadership of Adolf Hitler, that made no difference. You went along with the administration or were eliminated. Hitler killed millions of Christians including some 7,000 Polish priests, but he kept the world focused on the Jews. He had no hesitation in killing anyone who got in his way of eliminating the Jews and taking over the world - German, Christian, or any others.

The Muslim terrorists are doing the same thing. They keep the world focused on the United States, but kill all in their way - their own people, the Spanish, the French or anyone else. The point is the peaceful Germans were no protection from the Nazis or anyone else. So no matter how many peaceful Muslims there may be, (total Muslims are about 25% of the world population) they are of no help in protecting us from terrorist Muslim leaders who are fanatically bent - by their own pronouncements - on killing all of us "infidels." I don't blame the peaceful Muslims - their choice is be silent or die.

Every General knows there is no way to win a war unless you can clearly articulate who the enemy is. So the question is "Who is America at war with?" And there is no other answer than the Muslim terrorists. Now the question becomes "Can the U.S. lose this war?" and if they do, what does losing really mean?

The war on terror can most assuredly be lost! It would appear that a great many of us think that losing the war means that America would hang its head in shame, bringing the troops home and go on about their business as usual, very much like happened post-Vietnam.

This is as far from the truth as one can get. If the U.S. loses this war, things will never be the same again in the free world, not just America.

What losing really means is this: The U.S. would no longer be the pre-eminent country in the world. The attacks will not subside, but rather will steadily increase. Remember, they want us dead, not just quiet. If they had just wanted us quiet, they would not have produced an increasing series of attacks against the U.S. over the past 18 years. The plan was clearly for terrorists to attack the U.S. until it was neutered and submissive to them.  The U.S. would, of course, have no future support from other nations; for fear of reprisals they would abandon the U.S.

Muslim terrorist will continue to pick off other non-Muslim nations one at a time. It will become increasingly easier for them. They already hold Spain hostage. Spain withdrew their troops from Iraq because the Muslim terrorists bombed their train and told them to withdraw their troops. Spain is finished - anything else the Muslim terrorist want from Spain, they will get. The next will likely be France. France is already 20% Muslim and fading fast - a country currently wrought with fighting, strikes, and rebellion, it won't take much for it to fall to the wishes of the Muslim terrorists.

If the U.S. can't stop the Muslim terrorists, who can? The terrorists know full-well what is riding on this war, and that is why they are completely committed at any cost. That is why we see, day-after-day-after-day a few more dozen people killed here and there in Iraq. If America loses this war - and that is a very real possibility - then who will trade with the U.S. when threatened by Muslim terrorists? It will mean loss of income, loss of trade, loss of export opportunity, loss of jobs - and the entire way of life as it is known in America (and ultimately, the rest of the free world) will vanish.

So how can the mightiest nation on earth lose the war? The U.S. can lose the war by "imploding" - by watching Democrats and Republicans argue and debate about the ratings of the President or about the "inhumane treatment of prisoners." The U.S. can defeat themselves by refusing to recognize the enemy and their purpose. America needs to really dig-in with 100% bipartisan support, leaning full and complete support to the war effort. And every free country in the world needs to join them in that enterprise.

Very few people comprehend the seriousness of this war - it is a life and death situation for every free nation in the world. If America loses the war in Iraq, life will never - not ever - be the same again for all of us.

As frightening as the prospect of losing the war may be, America has as much to fear from its own American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) as it does from Muslim terrorists. I'm shocked at how the ACLU picks away at minor (and major!) issues, in effect, aiding the terrorists. Folks gave up plenty of Civil Liberties during World War II - which were immediately restored following the war. Americans had better start giving up some liberties for the sake of winning this war. If they don't give up some liberties temporarily, we all may lose them permanently.

The American media is another organization that is virtually out of control.  The U.S. has recently had an issue involving the treatment of a few Muslim prisoners of war, by a small group of military police. These are the type of prisoners who just a few months ago were throwing their own people off buildings, cutting off their hands, cutting out their tongues and otherwise murdering their own people just for disagreeing with Saddam Hussein.

And just a few years ago these same type prisoners chemically killed 400,000 of their own people for the same reason. They are also the same type enemy fighters who recently were burning Americans, and dragging their charred corpses through the streets of Iraq.  And still more recently, the same type enemy that was and is providing videos to all news sources internationally of the beheading of American (and other) prisoners they held.

Compare this with some of the American press and politicians, who for several days have thought and talked about nothing else but the "humiliating" of some Muslim prisoners - not burning them, not dragging their charred corpses through the streets, not cutting out their tongues or cutting off their hands, not beheading them, but "humiliating" them.

Can this be for real?

To bring America to a virtual political standstill over this prisoner issue makes the U.S. look like Nero playing his fiddle as Rome burned - totally oblivious to what is going on in the real world. Neither the U.S., nor any other country, can survive this internal strife. The media seems to be absolutely oblivious to the magnitude of the situation into which the Muslim terrorists have been pushing America for many years, creating a fanfare (and as Shakespeare would have said), generating "much ado about nothing."

If America does not win this war (and soon!) keep a close eye on France and how the Muslims will take over in the next few years. Little by little they are encroaching on French traditions while the French fight among themselves (which they do anyway) over what should or should-not be done, keeping them from any united resolve.

If all of us don't recognize the seriousness of the war and support the U.S. 100% then America will not survive, and no other free country in the world will survive if the U.S. is defeated. Democracies don't have their freedoms taken away from them by some external military force. Instead, they give their freedoms away, politically correct piece by politically correct piece.

Remember, no one defeated Rome - Rome defeated itself. Let's hope and pray history does not repeat itself.
